One of our Partner Organizations, the Chris Birkbeck International Rally School offers a great days activities for those amongst you who don’t want to be photographing all the time, or for the partners and families of photography course delegates and photographic holiday takers.

Situated some 5 minutes from the Keith Moss Gallery, its an ideal location both to visit and to stay at.

Chris founded the rally school in 1990. It is located in it’s own private grounds and incorporates a purpose built rally stage permanently available for school use and for testing the team’s rally cars.

The rally stage is a combination of tight hairpins, fast straights, crests and medium corners, designed to copy the surface and pattern of a forest stage without the danger of trees and ditches, thus reducing the risk of accidents and enabling you to drive quickly and confidently throughout your course.

This isn’t just a disused airfield with a few traffic cones, but the genuine thing. It is ability testing gravel, to give you the chance to improve your driving skills and learn rally driving techniques in a purpose built, front wheel drive, gravel rally car on a true, loose gravel surface using competition designed forest rally tyres.

The authenticity of the layout means that it is often used by works rally teams for pre-event testing to replicate actual rally conditions. has a variety of packages suitable for our Keith Moss Delegates and we would be more than happy to organise your day for you.

LUXURIOUS PHOTOGRAPHIC HOLIDAYS AT GISBOROUGH HALL

Sometimes the anticipation is every bit as exciting as the real thing. And, yet that’s certainly the feeling you get as you turn towards Gisborough Hall. The hotel driveway offers inviting glimpses of the Gisborough’s stunning Victorian home through the gently blowing trees.

In every sense, Gisborough Hall is a breath of fresh air. Dating from the middle of the 19th century, the original house is an architectural delight with its family crests, antiques and fine English oil paintings scattered throughout a building of elegant proportions.

SUMPTUOUS INVITING INSPIRING

Retaining the quality and charm of the Victorian country house, Gisborough Hall stands back in wooded grounds. The rooms look out over the Cleveland hills and Guisborough forest. Around every corner of Gisborough Hall awaits another delightful and intriguing surprise.

Antiques, original oil paintings and ancient books adorn the walls while luxurious fabrics, sumptuous sofas, and roaring fires draw you into a wonderful sense of calm. You can retire to the inner hall in the evening, enjoy afternoon tea in the library bar or drawing room – in fact you can treat Gisborough Hall as your home, we wouldn’t want it any other way.

WARM GRAND PEACEFUL

With the North York Moors National Park stretching off into the distance beyond your window, your Gisborough Hall bedroom is a sure haven of peaceful good taste. Bathed in natural light, the rooms are elegant and spacious, offering the time and space to relax and, perhaps, fit in a little work.

The Hotel’s 71 bedrooms and suites are all furbished to a high and exacting standard. The 19 rooms and suites in the Old Hall have all been individually decorated to enhance their original features.

For that extra special occasion four poster beds are available in three of the bedrooms, or there is a pedestal bath set in the window recess of Miss Bruce’s Room.

The Woodlands wing of Gisborough Hall offers the weary traveller a contemporary range of bedrooms in the most classical of settings. Again each one offers something a little bit different, but guarantees one thing, that your stay will be a memorable and enjoyable experience.

RELAXED COMFORTING UNIQUE

Quite what turns a good hotel into a great one can be difficult to understand. Often it comes down to subtle differences like the service you receive or the food you eat. At Gisborough Hall, we believe the calibre of both marks us out to be something a little special.

Tocketts restaurant is regarded as one of the finest in the whole of the North East. In a determinedly classical approach to cooking, our chefs prepare exquisite dishes whose subtle flavours can only have come from the finest and freshest of ingredients.

EXPERIENCE MEET CELEBRATE

Abounding in rural charm Gisborough Hall may be, but the pressures of today’s busy corporate life demand something altogether more modern. As an integral part of the hotel development, we created a comprehensively equipped, and wonderfully appealing, conference and meeting facility. The magnificent Madoc suite with its adjoining conservatory has a 300 capacity, whilst the additional 7 meeting rooms offer ideal breakout or training facilities with natural light and WiFi internet access.

Team build & strengthen corporate relationships with 4×4 driving, archery, quad bikes all within the hotel grounds.

For that special occasion the Longhull with its feature fireplace and views over the North York Moors is perfect and for weddings Gisborough Hall is a venue that dreams are made of.

QUIET SOLITUDE GARDEN

Gisborough Hall is one of the finest hotels in the North of England with 71 luxuriously appointed bedrooms, most of which feature peaceful views over tendered lawns, elegant rose gardens or charming woodland.

Yet all of this secluded beauty is within easy reach of the area’s major towns and cities and, thanks to the extensive motorway network a short distance away, the rest of the country beyond.

RELAX ENJOY EXPERIENCE

There are many outdoor pursuits on the doorstep for the more energetic, from mountain bike riding and fishing to golf and clay pigeon shooting.

Alternatively relax and enjoy a treatment in revival Zone, where the strains of everyday life will be eased away by our highly skilled beauty therapists.

Guisborough is a traditional North Yorkshire market town with an open air market in its wide cobbled streets on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. There is magnificent scenery, exceptional walks and plenty of historical sights to explore – Augustinian Prioy founded in 1119 by Robert de Brus. The North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage coastline stretches for 36 miles set to a backdrop of the moors, a countryside little changed in the last 1000 years offering stunning views.

Just like its sometimes dramatic always photographic inland scenery (which includes wild heather moors, lush limestone scenery and windswept fells), the North East coast line is frequently spectacular, varied, and ideal for the Seascape photographer visiting the north east.
From south of the mouth of the Tees and where the Cleveland and the North York moors meet the sea, the coastline is rocky and wild, with numerous fishing villages and resorts including Staithes, Whitby and robin hoods bay. Further south are the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey, positioned ideally at the head of a broad bay which sweeps from the rocky prominentry of Filey Brig to the spectacular seabird colony of Bempton cliffs on Flamborough head
At the southern end of the Yorkshire Coast is Spurn Head, a constantly evolving peninsular of sand dunes and sand banks at the mouth of the Humber Estuary and the famous seaports of Kingston Upon Hull and Goole.

This fantastic, sometimes dramatic, romantic and always beautiful scenery is ideal for the Seascape photography that the north east is famous for and ideal for the photographer like you.
Being the North East coast, there is always that mix of industrial and seascape imagery to get you the shots that just aren’t possible anywhere else.
Whether its the dramatic cliffs, the miles of golden sand or the characteristic northern industrial images that you are after to make your seascape photography complete; travel with Keith and share his passion for seascape photography. Keith lives in the area and has an intimate knowledge of these regions throughout the year. He will take you to several stunning scenic locations where you will receive his individual attention and learn how to take the special seascape photograph you are after.
Why not get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, grab your camera and head to the coast.

As you are on holiday, relax and leave the accommodation to us. For our 3 and 5 day photography seascape holidays you will be staying at the stylish, quality and friendly Gisborough hall.
With its welcoming 4-star rating, Gisborough Hall is set in peaceful private grounds on the edge of the North York Moors. Winner of the prestigious Yorkshire Life Hotel of the Year 2007/8, Gisborough Hall is well known for offering some of the best facilities in the north of England.
An ideal base for you to stay in and an ideal base to listen and learn whilst Keiths gives you the benefit of stories from his international fine art landscape photography career.

We make it simple to understand Landscape photography , we give you the skills and confidence to improve your landscape photography.

We provide a relaxed photography landscape holiday, with us there is no pressure. Why not get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, grab your camera and head to the coast. Our holiday centres around the north east coast of England which is described as one of ‘Europe’s undiscovered landscape treasures’ the north East Coast is the ideal place to relax , learn and enjoy a photography landscape holiday.

We are based in Brotton, one mile from Saltburn by the Sea, North Yorkshire, one of the undiscovered jewels of the north east landscape. We are very close to Redcar, Scarborough and Whitby, in land Goathand, home of Heartbeat the stunning north Yorkshire and Teasdale moors and not forgetting Grosmont railway station of harry potter fame, one of the jewels in the north Yorkshire railways.

1 day basic digital photography landscape holiday

Our 1 day basic photography landscape holiday appeals to beginners and photographers who are keen to start developing an eye and skill for the landscape. We have a maximum group size of just 6; this means you receive a high level of one-to-one tuition out on location and back at our digital suit.

This course can also be taken as part of our 5day family holiday based at Gisborough Hall

Course start time is 9.30am and finishes at 5.30pm

We advise that you get to our studio for 9am this gives you chance for a coffee and a chat before we start at 9.30 where there will be a short tutorial covering what “depth of field” is and how to use it in your landscapes, white balance controls; how the quality changes between Jpeg and RAW settings; how faster shutter speeds can come from changing the ISO levels; and how we use the histogram to achieve the correct exposure.

We then head out on location to put it all into practice, whilst on location you will learn how neutral density graduated filters enable you to record areas of excessive tonal contrast, often between the sky and the land and how they have a significant impact on exposure and the final look and feel of the image. We then begin to explore the creative side of landscape photography, looking at how we find the picture in the first place and then examining how we use the elements within the landscape to build simple but strong compositions

Our one day basic photography landscape holiday costs £155 per person. The price also includes lunch.

We help you take control of your camera and the landscape giving you the skill to capture a landscape you are proud of….

Photography equipment you need to bring….

Digital SLR with lens, tripod, neutral density graduated filter with holder, good sturdy boots and adequate clothing.
